Italy supports Bulgaria's accession to Schengen, President Giorgio Napolitano after meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart, Rosen Plevneliev. The Bulgarian head of state is on an official visit to Rome, this is his first overseas visit since taking office. Plevnelev Rosen stressed that our country can apply certain measures against the crisis that Italy has taken.
Plevneliev Rosen, president of Bulgaria:
- Italian president praised our country that is willing and working for reforms in the economy, justice and administration.
Bulgarian President was impressed by the measures that Italy is taking to tackle the crisis, aimed not so much how not to spend public money and how to invest in projects with long-term significance. Plevneliev is convinced that Bulgaria can take some of them, - promoting employment, supporting small and medium business, industry value added and innovation.
Giorgio Napolitano, President of Italy: - Italy supports the Bulgarian request for entry into the Schengen area, as the government has complied with all necessary technical requirements.
Both presidents saw opportunities for more active business relations between both countries, with particular identified transport corridor ? 8 and pipeline "South Stream". Giorgio Napolitano revealed in Bulgarian President what his formula is so beloved politician in Italy - always followed spirit of the Constitution. Rosen Plevneliev also met with President of the Italian lower house of parliament Gianfranco Fini and representatives of the Chamber of Industrialis.
